
Emmanuel Kodwo Mensah is the Co-founder and Director of Projects of Wang-oo Forum and an active member of The Association for Women’s Rights in Development (AWID), a global feminist membership organization. He has been involved in activities and researches with the aim of better understanding gender-based violence in Uganda and Worldwide. Also recognised by The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), the United States’ signature effort to invest in the next generation of African leaders- for standing against Gender-Based Violence in Uganda
As a research assistant, he worked with Dr. Catherine Anena, School of Women and Gender studies, Makerere University, under the CAPREX fellowship award in collaboration with University of Cambridge UK, on a study titled ‘Re-examining the contradictions; women’s economic empowerment and vulnerability to Gender Based Violence (GBV) in Uganda“. He has graduated with Masters of Arts in Gender Studies from School of Women and Gender Studies, Makerere University, Uganda, and holds Bachelors in Community Nutrition from University for Development Studies (UDS), Ghana and Certificate in Gender Equality and Development, Women’s Economic Empowerment from The World Bank Group.
